Schlangen Family Farm. Freeport, Minnesota Since 1986.
2009 Schlangen Family Farm. All Rights Reserved.
We are in the process of undertaking a very unique
project for central Minnesota: Making our way through one of our famously cold winters with fresh, local and high nutrient density veggies. Beyond Organic.

Our CSA, A Beginning:
We start with a limited number of CSA shares to help support the input costs of one seavson of production of Salad Greens, Tomatoes, etc as well as vegetation for our small flock of egg layers. Connecting the community directly to planting by supporting startup and input costs is the foundation of any CSA program. In this case, we supplement the greens and vegetable availability (due to the late start for this winter) with our own product list of local healthy food. When we start to harvest our new crop of vegetables for your dinner salads, you will still have the option to take as much as is available and fill the remainder of your bi-weekly package with other items as needed. Regular deliveries will be done along our 500 miles of route and at the TFMN Warehouse in South Minneapolis.

A sample order for the week of October 19th:

2 lbs. of Fresh Asparagus (Produce Acres): $10
5 lbs. of Sweet Cut Corn (Frozen SnoPac Veggies): $11
Cherry Tomatoes (Schlangen Family Farm): $4

Delivery total of $25 leaves a balance of $325

Each of ten orders can be slightly more or less than $25 to total $350. Another option is to order once each month with a $50 budget.

Together, Our Farm:

By joining us through the CSA we welcome you into a farming partnership. We are working to prepare the farm for tours and volunteering and are planning a Summer Solstice Festival to mark the beginning of the official opening of the farm. More information on the Summer Solstice Festival will be available in the coming months and we welcome suggestions.

We have a large, established market of members (250+ families) that we deliver to each week and the connection to the TFMN Warehouse as well. This will allow us to service at least part of a very large market in the Twin Cities Metro with lots of healthy local food. We hope you will enjoy being part of the support system that continues to make this work viable.

Next Round of Our CSA: Week of June 16th
